Hello! My name is Kuan-Wen, PIECE student coming from Taiwan, Asia. This is my first time studying in France and living in Dijon. My life as a student of UBFC is quite nice here. Since my arrival, I couldn’t help but fall in love with this medieval-style city and I was attracted by the palace of the duke of Burgundy. However, today I am going to share with you, not the famous, iconic architecture in the city, but my secret gardens along with my student life experiences.

Darcy Park

A glimpse of heaven

In front of the square of Darcy and the Arc de Triomphe Guillaume, Darcy Park is one of the most beautiful public parks in the city center. What comes into your eyes are a neo-renaissance-style fountain inside and a polar bear statue nearby. If the weather is nice, you can see people picnicking, chatting, exercising, reading, or taking a nap under the sunshine in the meadow. I remember my first time traveling to this amazing park was with other PIECE students after class, everybody brought lunch and cookies, and we shared food and chatted together, how wonderful it is!

Parc des Argentières

Intimacy with lovely animals

Parc des Argentières is definitely an unforgettable one! If you take the L5 line bus, you can stop at the Petites Roches, then walk along the line and go up and you will notice it on your left side. This park is not familiar to most people, in my opinion, even among the students, but this is definitely one of my favorites. Inside the park, you can see a brood of hens, roosters, turkeys, and three goats in the fence. Sometimes when you are not in a good mood, seeing these animals can regain your energy.

Residency Mansart

Secret of nature

The last park does not really have a specific name and cannot even be called a park. In fact, it is inside our student residency Mansart. It is mainly a pond surrounded by some benches and could be part of any garden in every normal house. But it is because of its simplicity that becomes my favorite place to spend my lunchtime or afternoon with friends, or just meditate in front of the water, can refresh your thinking.

Prepare your own adventure

For some who don’t like too tiring outdoor activities, these three parks are top choices on my list. If you enjoy the time in nature, I highly recommend you spend a weekend or just an afternoon taking around. Maybe you’ll discover something new during your adventure!
